What this actually means

Flying Blind shows up two ways. The first: nothing is tracked. No systems exist. The business is guessing. The second — and this one is more common than people admit — everything is set up and the reports arrive on schedule. None of it tells you anything useful.

Both arrive at the same place. You can’t answer the question that actually matters: is what we’re doing producing revenue? Impressions don’t pay invoices. Engagement rate doesn’t close deals. And a dashboard full of activity metrics is just a more expensive version of flying blind.

The real problem in either case isn’t the tools. It’s that nobody ever defined what the business should be measuring before they started measuring things. So the metrics that get tracked are the ones that are easy to track, not the ones that move the business. Decisions happen on gut feel. Marketing loses every budget argument. And the work keeps accumulating without anyone being able to say whether it’s working.

  • No tracking in place at all, or GA4 set up by someone who’s since left and nobody’s looked at it since
  • Tracking exists but the metrics being reported are impressions and click counts — neither of which connects to revenue
  • The agency sends a monthly report that looks thorough and doesn’t tell you whether the spend is working
  • Budget decisions are made on gut feel because nobody can draw a straight line from marketing activity to new business
  • When marketing gets challenged internally, there’s nothing to defend it with — whether or not a dashboard exists

When you can see what’s working, every decision gets easier.

01
You know which metrics actually matter
Not sessions. Not impressions. The two or three numbers that, when they move in the right direction, mean marketing is producing revenue. Most businesses have never had that list written down.
02
You stop funding what isn’t working
Most businesses in this situation are spending real money on channels that produce nothing — and can’t prove it either way. Once the attribution is clean, that changes fast. The dead weight becomes obvious.
03
Budget conversations stop being arguments
When you can show what a dollar of spend produced, the CFO conversation changes. You’re not defending marketing on faith. You have a number. That’s a completely different meeting.
04
The agency reports start meaning something
Once you know which metrics connect to revenue, you know exactly what questions to ask your vendors. The reports don’t change. Your ability to hold them accountable does.

Everyone starts with the Audit.

Before we touch your marketing, we spend 30 days understanding it. You come out with a written report, a 90-day roadmap, and a walkthrough call with Mike where we go through everything together. Here’s what those 30 days look like for a Flying Blind situation specifically.

Week 1
How you make money
Before we look at a single dashboard or tracking setup, we start here. How does the business get paid? What does the full path from first touch to closed customer actually look like? We map every stage and identify what has to be true at each one. Every metric we eventually define gets built backwards from this — which is why most measurement frameworks fail. They start with the tools instead of the revenue.
Week 1-2
Channel-level revenue analysis
Where is revenue actually coming from? We map every active channel to what it’s producing versus what it costs. In most Flying Blind businesses, this is the first time anyone has done this exercise. It’s usually the most clarifying hour of the whole engagement.
Week 2-3
Metric definition and reporting structure
We define the one primary metric your business should be running on — not 20, one. Then we build a simple weekly reporting structure around the five numbers that actually connect to it. You get a dashboard that tells you something instead of a dashboard that looks impressive.
Week 3-4
Written report and 90-day roadmap
A written report covering every attribution gap and channel performance finding, ranked by what to fix first. The roadmap tells your team exactly what to implement and in what order. Clear enough to run without us.
End of Day 30
60-minute walkthrough with Mike
We walk through every finding together. Mike explains the reasoning behind each call — why this metric, why these channels, why this order. By the end you have a reporting system you understand and a roadmap your team can start using the next day.
The starting point
The Audit. $7,500. 30 days.
At the end of 30 days you have a diagnosis and a sequenced roadmap. Your team can run with it independently. Or if you want us to help implement, we talk about what that looks like. The Audit stands on its own either way.

The call is free. The Audit is where the work starts.

Thirty minutes. Free. No pitch deck.

You took this quiz because the numbers aren’t telling you what you need to know. You have the data. You just don’t have clarity. That gap is fixable, and it’s usually faster to close than people expect.

You bring your situation, Mike brings an honest read on it. He’s had enough of these conversations to know quickly whether we can help, and he’ll say so either way.

What we cover
  • Which of your current metrics actually connect to revenue (and which don’t)
  • What a reporting structure that actually informs decisions looks like for your size and stage
  • Whether an Audit makes sense right now and what the 30 days would focus on
  • A straight answer either way, even if that answer is not yet
You deal directly with Mike. No intake form, no pre-call questionnaire.

Having data isn’t the same as having answers.

You wouldn’t be here if the dashboard was telling you what you needed to know. The diagnosis is done. The next move is yours.
